As such, teachers and students had talked about their own interests in various occasions. That previous knowledge along with our students\u2019 answers when being asked what they wanted to research about helped us, teachers, determine the specific topics for each grade.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After students researched and read the information, they analyzed it, summarized and reported it in a written document, then they presented it to their own classes and made a final product with it.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final products varied depending on their grade. First grade students made banners, which we exhibited in the area in front of the secondary section&#8217;s main office for all of our students to see. Second graders made posters which we put up in the same pavilion. They also attended as public to the third graders presentations.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Third grade students were asked to work more since they already have experience preparing this type of event. Their final products were posters that are still being exhibited at the\u00a0Unidad Cultural and they presented their research to their second and third grade peers.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In my case, the first grade students were worried about the amounts of garbage we generate and were very enthusiastically looking for ideas to reuse things -wrappings and packaging mostly- for them not to become garbage. They found some creative and useful ways to reuse plastic bottles, straws, styrofoam, trays, and other highly polluting materials. These students learned how to care for the planet while they grew more observant and responsible with the environment.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second graders wanted to take care of so many animals who suffer because they mistake styrofoam for food and discovered that there are new techniques for recycling it and that tamarind seeds can be used to make a similar material that is completely degradable and is friendly with the ecosystem it degrades in. And last but not least the third graders learned about the water problems in the City. They found out how our water system works, what problems ought to be solved to make it more efficient, why those problems aren\u2019t being handled and even why our water consumption is causing the City to sink.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other than the specific information each group of students learned, they all acquired some very useful abilities like some basic steps for researching, discriminating and summarizing information as well as the use of ICTs for collaborative work.<\/p>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22429\" src=\"http:\/\/madridcomunica.comwp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/FERIA-DE-INGLE\u0301S.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madridcomunica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/FERIA-DE-INGLE\u0301S.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/www.madridcomunica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/FERIA-DE-INGLE\u0301S-365x200.jpeg 365w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Feria de Ingl\u00e9s en Secundaria<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La feria de Ingl\u00e9s est\u00e1 integrada en el tema del a\u00f1o, que es la \u00e9tica del cuidado. Como tal, los maestros y los estudiantes han externado sus intereses en varias ocasiones. Ese conocimiento previo junto con las respuestas de nuestros alumnos cuando se les pregunt\u00f3 sobre qu\u00e9 quer\u00edan investigar nos ayud\u00f3 a los maestros a determinar los temas espec\u00edficos para cada grado.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despu\u00e9s de que los alumnos leyeron la informaci\u00f3n, la analizaron, resumieron y reportaron en un documento escrito. Luego la presentaron a sus compa\u00f1eros de clase y elaboraron con ella diversos productos finales.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Estos variaron dependiendo del grado. Los alumnos de primer a\u00f1o hicieron banners, los cuales exhibimos en el \u00e1rea frente a la direcci\u00f3n de secundaria para que todos los alumnos pudieran verlos. En segundo a\u00f1o se elaboraron posters, los cuales fueron exhibidos en el mismo pabell\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, estos alumnos asistieron como p\u00fablico a las presentaciones de los alumnos de tercer a\u00f1o.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A los alumnos de tercer a\u00f1o se les pidi\u00f3 un poco m\u00e1s de trabajo debido a que ya tienen experiencia preparando este tipo de evento. Sus productos finales fueron posters que a\u00fan est\u00e1n siendo exhibidos en la Unidad Cultural, y presentaron su investigaci\u00f3n a sus compa\u00f1eros de segundo a\u00f1o y de su misma generaci\u00f3n.En mi caso, los estudiantes de primer grado estaban preocupados por la cantidad de basura que generamos y buscaron con entusiasmo ideas para reutilizar cosas, envolturas y embalajes en su mayor\u00eda, para que no se convirtieran en basura. Encontraron algunas formas creativas y \u00fatiles para reutilizar botellas de pl\u00e1stico, popotes, unicel y otros materiales altamente contaminantes. Este grupo de estudiantes aprendi\u00f3 a cuidar el planeta mientras se hicieron m\u00e1s observadores y responsables con el medio ambiente.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los alumnos de segundo grado quer\u00edan cuidar a los animales que sufren porque confunden el unicel con alimento y descubrieron que existen nuevas t\u00e9cnicas para reciclarlo y que las semillas de tamarindo se pueden usar para hacer un material similar que es completamente degradable y amigable con el ecosistema en el que se degrada. Y por \u00faltimo, los alumnos de tercer grado aprendieron sobre los problemas del agua en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico. Descubrieron c\u00f3mo funciona nuestro sistema de aguas, qu\u00e9 problemas deber\u00edan resolverse para hacerlo m\u00e1s eficiente, por qu\u00e9 no se est\u00e1n resolviendo esos problemas e incluso por qu\u00e9 nuestro consumo de agua est\u00e1 causando que la ciudad se hunda.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adem\u00e1s de la informaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica que cada grupo de estudiantes aprendi\u00f3, todos adquirieron algunas habilidades muy \u00fatiles para la vida, como algunos pasos b\u00e1sicos para investigar, discriminar y resumir informaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como el uso de las TICs para el trabajo colaborativo.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mariana Rangel<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Profesora de Ingl\u00e9s<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"English Fair in Secondary The English fair this year is embedded in the year\u2019s topic which is the ethics of care.
