These talks reinforce ideas of the Handprint Initiative, and highly focus on positive actions and help our students develop a further understanding of specific topics. This semester we conducted an informal survey among students to find out what their main interest in the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN was, so as to promote their involvement in their own learning processes. We found out that their interests were mainly focused on Gender Equality.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Within this frame of reference, an expert from India was invited to speak to our students, and a series of conferences named \u2018We, the people\u2026 equal or not?\u2019 were held in our English classes. The expert talked with the students about the Indian context and gender issues there, some general misconceptions when talking about these topics, and most importantly, about the interpretation to the questions they answered in preparation for such conferences. Students were able to participate, express their opinions, and ask questions. After the conference, a discussion and reflection session where students shared some enthralling thoughts was held.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These sessions help students understand some important aspects of life while also practising the language in a more natural context, thus, they are not thinking about the vocabulary and structure but communication in itself, they feel motivated to express ideas, question others, contrast arguments, and so on. Additionally, they practise their international understanding of the language since they get in contact with experts with different accents from different parts of the world.<\/p>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29460\" src=\"http:\/\/madridcomunica.comwp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EQUAL.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madridcomunica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EQUAL.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.madridcomunica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/EQUAL-400x192.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nosotros, la gente&#8230;. \u00bfiguales o no?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En CCH hemos estado realizando charlas internacionales con expertos extranjeros. Estas charlas refuerzan algunas ideas de la Iniciativa Handprint enfoc\u00e1ndose en acciones positivas y en ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a desarrollar una mayor comprensi\u00f3n de temas espec\u00edficos. Este semestre realizamos una encuesta informal entre las y los estudiantes para conocer su principal inter\u00e9s dentro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la ONU y tambi\u00e9n con el fin de promover la participaci\u00f3n de nuestras y nuestros estudiantes en sus propios procesos de aprendizaje. Encontramos que sus intereses se centraban principalmente en la equidad de g\u00e9nero.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dentro de este marco de referencia, se invit\u00f3 a una experta de la India a hablar con las y los estudiantes, en una serie de conferencias que se nombr\u00f3 \u2018We, the people\u2026 equal or not?\u2019 que se llevaron a cabo en nuestras clases de ingl\u00e9s. La experta habl\u00f3 con las y los estudiantes sobre el contexto indio y las cuestiones de g\u00e9nero en dicho pa\u00eds, algunos conceptos err\u00f3neos generales al hablar sobre estos temas y, lo que es m\u00e1s importante, sobre la interpretaci\u00f3n de las preguntas que respondieron nuestras y nuestros alumnos en preparaci\u00f3n para tales conferencias. Las y los estudiantes pudieron participar, expresar sus opiniones y hacer preguntas. Despu\u00e9s de la conferencia, se llev\u00f3 a cabo una sesi\u00f3n de discusi\u00f3n y reflexi\u00f3n.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Estas sesiones ayudan a nuestras y nuestros estudiantes a comprender algunos aspectos importantes de la vida mientras practican el idioma en un contexto m\u00e1s natural, porque no est\u00e1n pensando en el vocabulario y la estructura gramatical sino en la comunicaci\u00f3n en s\u00ed misma, se sienten motivados para expresar ideas, cuestionar a las y los otros, contrastar argumentos, etc\u00e9tera.
