What is sustainable design?

Yesterday, the students of CCH attended a conference about sustainable design given by José Ignacio Nuño, an industrial designer. The talk was how design can use sustainable materials that are local and can be made into useful objects while putting into good use material that can be recycled or reused and therefore reduce the pollution and energy waste of using new materials. Our students already know a lot about sustainability and how it is necessary to modify our consumption, but it is always interesting to see real life examples of how important it is to ground all the knowledge.

Los alumnos de CCH asistieron a una conferencia sobre Diseño Sustentable impartida por el diseñador industrial José Ignacio Nuño. La plática fue sobre cómo diseñar utilizando materiales sustentables de la localidad y que se pueden transformar en objetos útiles al tiempo de utilizar material de reciclado o reuso y por lo tanto reducir la contaminación y desperdicio de energía  al emplear materiales nuevos. Nuestros alumnos saben mucho sobre sustentabilidad y cómo es necesario modificar el consumo, siempre es interesante ver ejemplos de la vida real y como se aterrizan los conocimientos.
