Intercultural trip to St. Lawrence College in Ramsgate, a unique experience!
This summer Colegio Madrid organised a school trip in the southeast corner of England where we had a wonderful and unique experience. We also enjoyed new opportunities as soon as the trip began!
Having the chance to take our students to another country for three weeks in St. Lawrence College and exposing them to a different culture was an entire learning experience. Our pupils saw a globalised world through this experience, which will help them expand their horizons in culture and knowledge.
Organising the trip along with our students and their parents was completely worthwhile. We were nervous but excited the day we left from our beloved country.
The purpose of this amazing trip was to expose our students to a different culture and to practise English in a real-life context. Academically speaking, this overseas trip was an amazing opportunity for them to practise their speaking abilities and gain confidence in their conversation with native speakers. This trip offered our students the opportunity to experience an extensive practice, learn and meet people from Japan, Russia, France, Italy, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Spain. Sharing experiences in a friendly and multicultural environment was an important part of their learning process.
Aside from the academic points, our students lived and learnt about British culture as a result of the interaction with native teachers and the visits to many landmarks in England such as The Buckingham Palace, The British Museum, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Cambridge University, Canterbury Cathedral, Warner Bros Studios, among others. They also got a kick out of going shopping, and having the chance to budget their own money; in addition to eating different dishes from the ones they are used to.
During the afternoons all the cultural activities, sports, drumming and percussion classes enhanced our student’s participation and enjoyment while they activated their spoken English.
Getting to know our students in a more personal way was a delightful experience, and in fact, we shared many anecdotes, jokes, funny and sporty activities and unforgettable moments. They felt safe and confident with us as group leaders, close to them but with the freedom to live a one of a kind experience away from home.
We are proud to say that our students from Colegio Madrid were really loved and highly appreciated by their British teachers and staff members, recognising their education, values and willingness as Mexicans.

Viaje intercultural a St. Lawrence College en Ramsgate, ¡una experiencia única!
Este verano el Colegio Madrid organizó un viaje intercultural al sureste de Inglaterra, en el que vivimos una experiencia maravillosa y única. También disfrutamos de nuevas oportunidades tan pronto comenzó el viaje.
Tener la oportunidad de llevar a nuestros alumnos a St. Lawrence College durante tres semanas y exponerlos a una cultura diferente fue una completa experiencia de aprendizaje. Nuestros alumnos se enfrentaron a un mundo globalizado al haber vivido esta experiencia que estamos seguras les ayudará a expandir sus horizontes, cultura y conocimiento.
Organizar el viaje con los chicos y sus padres valió muchísimo la pena. Estábamos nerviosos, pero al mismo tiempo emocionados el día que partimos de nuestro querido país.
El propósito de este increíble viaje fue exponer a nuestros estudiantes a una cultura diferente y practicar inglés en un contexto real. En el aspecto académico fue una oportunidad estupenda para que practicaran sus habilidades para expresarse en inglés y tener la confianza para comunicarse con otros. Este viaje les ofreció la oportunidad de experimentar una práctica extensa, aprender y conocer gente de Japón, Rusia, Francia, Italia, Ucrania, República Checa y España. Compartir experiencias en un ambiente amigable y multicultural fue una parte importante de su proceso de aprendizaje.
Además del ámbito académico nuestros estudiantes vivieron y aprendieron sobre la cultura británica como resultado de la interacción con maestros nativos, visitas a muchos puntos de referencia en Inglaterra como el Palacio de Buckingham, el Museo Británico, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, la Universidad de Cambridge, la Catedral de Canterbury, los Estudios Warner Bros, entre otros. También les gustó ir de compras y aprender a presupuestar su dinero; todo esto además de comer platillos diferentes a los que están acostumbrados. Durante las tardes todas las actividades culturales, deportivas, las clases de percusión y manualidades hicieron énfasis en la participación continua y el disfrute mientras utilizaban el inglés.
Conocer a nuestros estudiantes de una manera más personal fue una experiencia encantadora, de hecho, compartimos muchas anécdotas, chistes, actividades divertidas y momentos inolvidables. Se sintieron seguros al tenernos como líderes de grupo cerca de ellos, pero con la libertad y la confianza para vivir una experiencia inolvidable lejos de casa.
Nos enorgullece decir que los chicos del Madrid fueron muy queridos por sus maestros británicos y miembros del staff, reconociendo su educación, valores y disposición como mexicanos.
