A love story for our Winter Fest

‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas!’ is one of the most famous stories by American writer Dr Seuss (1904-1991). The Grinch was the strangest member of the Whos, and he preferred to live on the cold distant Mount Crumpit, instead of doing it with the rest of his people in Whoville. He thought he didn’t fit because he was different. And the Whos thought it, too.

After the smallest townspeople interceded and approached him, The Grinch discovered that Christmas was much more than presents, decorations, and a big tree. It was a symbol of peace and unity. At the end of this moving story, the best comes: The Grinch and the Whos realised that, despite their differences, each of them was equally important to the town, and that they could only feel happy if they all stayed together and united.

We wanted to share this powerful message (and this lovely story) with our boys and girls from 2^nd and 3^rd grade. Paola and Alan told them the story and they explained the importance of accepting others, the kids chose the character they wanted to play and they learnt their lines. They presented their version of ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas!’ to their families at a beautiful festival, which we will always remember for its gentleness.

‘¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad!’ es una de las historias más famosas del escritor norteamericano Dr Seuss (1904-1991). El Grinch era el miembro más extraño de los Whos, y prefería vivir en el frío y distante Monte Crumpit, en vez de hacerlo con el resto de su gente en Whoville. Él pensaba que no encajaba porque era diferente. Y los Whos lo pensaban también.

Después de que los habitantes más pequeños del pueblo intercedieron y se acercaron a él, el Grinch descubrió que la Navidad era mucho más que regalos, decoraciones y un gran árbol. Era un símbolo de paz y unidad. Al final de esta conmovedora historia, llega lo mejor: el Grinch y los Whos se dieron cuenta que, a pesar de sus diferencias, cada uno de ellos era igual de importante para el pueblo, y que ellos sólo podían estar felices si permanecían juntos y unidos.

Queríamos compartir este poderoso mensaje (y esta historia adorable) con nuestros niños y niñas de 2^o y 3^er año. Paola y Alan les contaron la historia y les explicaron la importancia de aceptar a los demás, las niñas y niños eligieron el personaje que querían representar y aprendieron sus líneas. Presentaron su versión de ‘¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad!’ a sus familias en un hermoso festival, el cual siempre recordaremos por su dulzura.
