Verbs collage / Collage de verbos

We start working with verbs at a very young age and memory plays a big role in the process of learning and acquiring vocabulary. Students have to memorise them and visualise the way in which they are written and pronounced.

During the first years of primary we only use them in infinitive and in present tense, mostly to talk about routines and to describe people, things and facts. As part of the process, we give our students lists of verbs to work in class. Verbs are checked orally and in a written way. We spell them, we use them along each unit and we play different games. We also use the verbs in context so they become meaningful for students.

In third grade, we used some of these verbs to make a collage. First, the students checked all the lists given since the beginning of the school year. They spelled them, they checked meaning, and they used some of them in context in an oral way. Students brought a magazine to cut out images and to illustrate and decorate their work. Our kids really liked this activity and they pasted the projects on the wall to have them on hand and to help each other remember the verbs.

Empezamos a trabajar con los verbos a una edad muy temprana y la memoria juega un papel importante en el proceso de aprender y adquirir vocabulario. Los alumnos tienen que memorizar los verbos y visualizar la forma en que se escriben y se pronuncian.

Durante los primeros años en la primaria sólo los utilizamos en infinitivo y en presente, principalmente para hablar sobre hechos, rutinas y para describir personas o cosas. En el proceso, les damos a nuestros alumnos listas de verbos para trabajar en clase. Los verbos se revisan de manera oral y escrita. Los deletreamos, los utilizamos a lo largo de cada unidad y realizamos diferentes juegos. También usamos los verbos en contexto para que sean significativos para los niños.

En tercer año, utilizamos algunos de estos verbos para hacer un collage. Primero, los alumnos revisaron todas las listas que recibieron desde el inicio del ciclo escolar. Los deletrearon, comprobaron su significado y utilizaron algunos de ellos en contexto de manera oral. Los alumnos trajeron una revista para recortar imágenes e ilustrar y decorar su trabajo. A los alumnos les gustó mucho la actividad y pegaron sus trabajos en la pared para tenerlos a la vista y para ayudarse entre ellos a recordar los verbos.
