Mythical creature
Over the years, mythology has been a fascinating topic for everyone and it has become a part of human culture. Mythical creatures are supernatural animals, beings, hybrids that do not exist in real life. Many mythical creatures have supernatural powers (some good, some evil); powers that even in contemporary times have no physical explanation.
The teaching of mythology provides many varied benefits to students of all ages. Students come in contact with a variety of world cultures while comparing those cultures to their own. Mythology also teaches history by examining ancient times and their effect on the modern world.
In the first unit of the book, ‘Beastly Tales’, 6th graders worked a lot on this important topic. First, they expressed their previous knowledge about mythology. Then, the students watched some videos about the most popular mythical creatures and the myth of ‘Jason and the Argonauts’. They also read and learned the names and complete descriptions of the most famous beasts. They used all these words in context by doing exercises and singing a funny song.
To wrap up the unit, our children created their own mythical creature. They used their imagination to invent an amazing beast, and they described it. Our students from 6th grade demonstrated truly spectacular abilities and achieved incredible results; they really enjoyed doing this activity. Undoubtedly, they will never forget the magnificence of mythology and its fascinating creatures!

A lo largo de los años, la mitología ha sido un tema fascinante para todos y se ha convertido en parte de la cultura humana. Las criaturas míticas son animales, seres o híbridos sobrenaturales que no existen en la vida real. Muchas criaturas míticas tienen poderes sobrenaturales (algunos buenos, otros malos); poderes que incluso en la época contemporánea no tienen explicación física.
La enseñanza de la mitología proporciona muchos y variados beneficios a alumnas y alumnos de todas las edades. Ellas y ellos entran en contacto con diversas culturas del mundo y las comparan con las suyas. La mitología también enseña historia al analizar los tiempos antiguos y su efecto en el mundo moderno.

Las y los niños de 6º año demostraron habilidades realmente espectaculares y consiguieron resultados increíbles; disfrutaron mucho realizando la actividad. Sin duda, ¡nunca olvidarán la magnificencia de la mitología y sus fascinantes criaturas!
