The importance of learning to give directions
During January, our 5th grade students learnt and practised the ability of giving directions. Through the use of some maps and other visual aids, they reviewed the different areas and shops within a city, and, with the correct language (mainly, the correct use of prepositions) they guided their classmates to get to different spots that were given.
Learning to give directions is an essential skill when exploring or living in a city. It also promotes better communication as they learn to describe landmarks, street names, distances, and directions efficiently, as well as it encourages active observation of the surroundings and helps them integrate into the community.
La importancia de saber dar instrucciones
Durante el mes de enero, las y los estudiantes de 5º año aprendieron y practicaron cómo dar instrucciones para ir de un lugar a otro. Con el uso de algunos mapas y otros elementos visuales, repasaron las partes y las tiendas de una ciudad, y, con el lenguaje adecuado (principalmente, el uso correcto de las preposiciones) guiaron a sus compañeras y compañeros para llegar a distintos lugares de la ciudad.
Aprender a dar instrucciones es una habilidad esencial cuando se recorre o se vive en una ciudad. También promueve una mejor comunicación ya que aprenden a describir puntos de referencia, nombres de calles, distancias y orientación eficientemente, así como alienta a tener una observación activa de los alrededores y les ayuda a integrarse a la comunidad.
