Día de muertos. Bailes y fotografías vivas.
Como parte de la materia de movimiento y expresión trabajamos en esta actividad durante un mes. Comenzamos con la coreografía de Blinding lights, que resalta la destreza de realizar movimientos coordinados y rítmicos. Con Thriller, nos aventuramos a aprender una coreografía más compleja, pero al ser tan emblemática resultó interesante y divertida para los alumnos. Se apropiaron de la propuesta al traer vestuarios referentes al vídeo y además tuvieron la posibilidad de incluir algunos pasos de su propia creación, así como pequeñas escenas de terror antes de comenzar la coreografía de Thriller. El martes 31 de octubre, los cuatro grupos de 6to se presentaron frente a compañeras y compañeros de otras generaciones durante los recesos, siendo esta su primera práctica escénica.
Las generaciones de 4to y 5to trabajaron en la creación de fotografías vivas. En una clase se mostraron ejemplos de cuadros y obras de arte alusivas a las celebraciones tradicionales del día de muertos, recreadas por personas que imitaban la forma, los colores, las posturas, etc. A partir de esto, los grupos se dividieron en equipos y eligieron alguna pintura o fotografía para representar. Cada equipo se organizó para conseguir vestuarios, maquillaje y accesorios necesarios para recrear la imagen elegida. En la semana de los festejos de Día de muertos, los equipos eligieron un lugar del patio y se caracterizaron para montar la escena completa.

As part of the Movement and Expression subject, we worked on this activity for a month. We started with the choreography of “Blinding Lights”, which highlights the skill of making coordinated and rhythmic movements. With “Thriller”, we ventured into learning more complex choreography. However, as it was so iconic, it was interesting and fun for the students. They took ownership of the proposal by bringing costumes referring to the video and also had the possibility to include some steps of their own creation, as well as small terror scenes before starting Thriller’s choreography. On October 31st, 6th graders performed their first stage practice in front of classmates from other generations during the recess.
The 4th and 5th graders worked on creating living photographs. In one class, they were shown examples of paintings and works of art alluding to traditional Day of the Dead celebrations, recreated by people imitating the shape, colours, postures, etc. From this, the groups were divided into teams and they chose a painting or photograph to represent. Each team organised themselves to get costumes, make-up and props needed to recreate the chosen image. During the Day of the Dead celebration, the teams chose a place in the playground and dressed up to stage the whole scene.
